This variation of
"flash-faucet" calls for a black & white version split into four segments,
and then mounted in a staggered pattern with a complete, colored version
of the painting replacing one of the panels.
This painting started while
attending the 4th Ave. Street Fair in Tucson in March '06. I was shooting
some timed exposures of various antique fixtures and furnishings at the
old Hotel Congress up the street, and amid these carefully executed
photographs, I decided to just grab a quick shot with the on-camera flash.
This resulted in "flash-faucet". I think I am most enamored by the
contrast of the sharp spigot against the very soft handle in the
background. I also love all the highlights and bokeh from the flash, and
the stream of water of course - as well as the unbalanced composition. Fun
