REStevensArt - News 74 -  Wednesday, December 16th, 2009  -  www.restevensart.com

Welcome to the REStevensArt "noozleddar list"! BUNCHES of folks signed up at these last few shows in Arizona and New Mexico (over 250) and I've got lots of fun stuff to share here, so I'm gonna get right to it!

This past weekend was the 4th Avenue Winter Street Fair in Tucson, Az. It was my final show of 2010 and my 30th show since February 6th. It has been a hectic schedule and I'm looking forward to a few weeks at home. Meanwhile, I was honored by a double whammy this weekend at 4th Avenue. Firstly, I was asked to be the poster artist for the Spring 2010 fair and I'm quite excited about the concept I'm working on for it. Secondly, they presented me with the "Best of Show" award for this year, explaining that it was the first time in 40 years one person was awarded both honors! Quite flattering!!! :)

The deadline for the Spring artwork is rather tight, so I hope to share the painting in here next month and I plan on having a couple of reproductions as well as matted prints available at the show in March.

(above) I was particularly surprised, since I wasn't even aware there was a "Best of Show" award at this event. In fact, I had to Photoshop this picture to take some of the red out of my face  .  .  . no, really. :)

Though 4th Ave has never been my strongest show, I have a particular fondness for it as it was this same event in December of 2004 where I first showed my work. This was where my 'art trucker' (a title bestowed upon me by a friend) path first took hold and in the years subsequent, I've yet to find a show with as diverse and colorful a crowd as this one. :)

Meanwhile  .  .  . marbles, marbles, MARBLES!!!! No more marbles for a while!

Introducing (below) "antique store II",  FINALLY!!!! After a month-o-painting (over 70 hours on this piece), I can finally show you the second piece in the 'antique store' series.

(below left) I spent most of the weekend at the CityNorth show in Phoenix painting that first jar of marbles.

(below right) Thanksgiving weekend was spent mostly painting at the Rio Grande Art Festival (indoor show thankfully)  in Albuquerque, NM.
"antique store II" is a 30"x48" acrylic on canvas that is, like the first one, stretched on my own custom, 3" deep stretcher frame. It is intended to have a 3.5" deep shadow box around it and once framed will be priced at $8000. Of course noozleddar subscribers automatically get $500 off that.

DECEMBER 2009 SALE!!!!

I've got WAY more drizzlescapes remaining than I was expecting and since I won't be displaying these at my Spring and Summer 2010 shows, I'd really rather sell them at discount than store them until next Fall. I'm continuing the 'noozleddar' subscriber price of $1 / sq. in. for any custom drizzlescapes, but from now through January 15th, any pieces I have already on hand are HALF PRICE!!!! That means a 12"x12" is just $72!!!!  Send me a note indicating what piece you're interested in along with your address, and I will confirm the size of the painting and cost for shipping. if ordered by Friday morning, there is a good chance I can have it to you by Christmas.

Lastly, I want to reiterate that I am continually looking for charities that can use artwork for auctions, etc. If you're aware of something, please let me know!

It did not occur to me until it was awfully late, but I've concocted a plan for a local Christmas toy drive for underprivileged children (besides my son :) ). One of the organizers here is seeking new, unwrapped toys valued between $10 and $25. If you ship such an item to me with a receipt and a note specifying which REStevensArt painting you prefer,
I will send you an 11"x14" or 12"x12" matted print for FREE!!!! These are the prints I sell for $40 in shows and galleries, and they can be yours for the price of a $10-$25 toy! If the item will fit, I recommend just wrapping it up in grocery bags or other padding and sending it in a U.S. Post Office 2-day priority box. Most items will ship for $4.95.

Send the package to P.O. Box 243  Sierra Vista, Az. 85636, and don't forget to include the receipt! Someone remind me to introduce this idea earlier next year! Otherwise, I'll be back next month with s'more fun stuff! Thanks as always for staying tuned.
