REStevensArt - News 69  Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009  -  www.restevensart.com

First things first! Welcome to the list - all those who signed up for the REStevensArt Noozleddar these past couple of weeks here in Colorado! I continue to be enthralled by the scenery up here during July.

Secondly, I want to thank all those previous subscribers who answered the call in last month's newsletter. The response was overwhelmingly gracious and prompt! And for those who are curious about Jr's dental disaster, it actually got worse after I sent out that issue, but we got him all fixed up, and as it turns out, the endodontist himself wants to trade for artwork! So all has worked out in the end (as it always ultimately does). I am continually grateful and humbled by the responses I receive at these art shows and through my 'noozleddar', and that gratitude was increased exponentially last month!

    O.K., back to bidness!

I want to remind all those folks who saw my work at these past three shows in Cherry Creek, Avon, and Aspen, that I am in the area for only one more week. If there is a piece of REStevensArt that you're pondering, be sure to catch me soon and save the cost of shipping! In case I didn't mention it to you in person, I am happy to work with people on delivering artwork and accepting distributed payments. In other words, I'm easy!

Check out the gallery at www.restevensart.com - then send a note to roderick@restevensart.com, or call me at (323)353-8202 with your questions!

Some new pieces! A while back, Roderick Jr gave me the idea of building a traffic light and using my fruit paintings as the three lights. I finally got around to building three of them and brought them with me to Colorado. Traffic Light 01 is seen to the right, and 02 & 03 are below.

(above)  Traffic Light 01
(below left)  Traffic Light 02, and 03

These are all 12"x36"x2" deep, and are a mix of mdf, paint, canvas, and three different kinds of paint.

These run $1,500 retail, and $1095 for newsletter subscribers. If purchased before the end of the month, I'll even include shipping!

For each one, my friend Les routed out the portals on his big fancy cnc router, and then I had my daughter Melissa's boyfriend, Brian, round off the edges, and add a little detail edging. We then built up the depth and painted them, each with different types (and colors) of paint. I painted the 'lights' with my usual acrylic paints, some on mdf panels, some on canvas. As is my nature I tried different approaches with each piece.

I've got a fourth frame built, but haven't yet decided what I'll do for the lights. I'm open to suggestions!

Then back home!
My next show is in Prescott, Arizona!

September 5th - 7th
Faire on the Square
Courthouse Plaza
Prescott, Az.

Below, is version #07 in the "just words" series. For this one, I went with a chrome and white look, inspired by the towel bars I used in my bathroom, and the matching drawer pulls. Unlike the previous manifestations, this time I used hose bibbs (t-knob faucets) for the paper holder on top. Toilet flanges were revisited for the carriage handles, and rather than canvas on sheet metal, I heated up and shaped a sheet of pvc for the paper. This one measures approx. 33"w by 40"h and runs $3,600 including delivery or shipping.

I'll be back next issue with a preview of a completely new body of work I've been brewing about for over a year and a half. I've been busy up here in Colorado getting some new pieces done, and before they make their premiere in Prescott, Az. I want to give you all a chance to see and possibly acquire (at the usual discount of course) any pieces that grab you.

See you soon, and thanks as always!!!!
