WELCOME SPRING!
Welcome to the "noozleddar" who visited my
booth and signed up
during this month of shows in Florida! While the trip was not without it's
downfalls, I must say the weather sure was GREAT for the majority of it!
Firstly, I'd like to share the latest in the "apple
splash" series - this time a red one on a 24"x48" wood panel. I returned to
the reference image from which I painted "apple
splash II", but decided to paint this one red (being the rebel that I
am).
Fortunately, this trip solidified for me the reality
that TIMES IS HARD! Sales were down compared to last year, and yet I say
fortunately, because I recognize that success oft breeds complacency, and
failure (or at least a significant drop in sales) breeds change, innovation,
risk-taking, and all the things that can make one stronger and wiser for the
wear. To that end, I thought I would share with you all my thoughts for the
immediate and near future (the long term keeps changing).
On the downside is that Stage 1 of my 'restructuring'
as it were, will include scaling back my long-distance show circuit for a
while. At this point, I don't believe I'll be headed back to Florida, or
anywhere East of the Mississippi for probably at least a year or two. As
much as I love visiting these new places, seeing old friends, meeting new
ones, and touring the U.S., I must
administer a modicum of fiscal scaling down in the travel expense
department.
I will still be in Texas this Spring, with a brief jaunt over to
St. Louis - and hopefully Belleville, Il. (check out the
2009 Show Schedule), and I'm still looking forward to
Colorado in the Summer, but otherwise I May focus primarily on the
Southwest for a while.

Moving right along, I just wanted to share this piece one last time since it
sold recently in La Quinta (near Palm Springs), having only hung in two
shows in it's brief travels with me (although the two shows were on opposite
ends of the country). Admittedly, I was very excited to not have to keep
transporting this behemoth of art around, but alas - me being me - I'm also
excited about building another obnoxiously huge piece of paper in the near
future. :) I've got two more giant pieces of paper partially
completed, which I'm hoping to work on over the next couple of weeks in
Texas, and will share them soon.
Meanwhile, Stage 2 of my latest chapter in the book of REStevensArt, includes focusing on a
completely new series of work. Between this past year's sudden explosion of
artistic liberation, my recently acquired 'building' skills (click
here to see the evolution of my new home), and a need to adapt to
the present condition of the world at large, my mind has been racing through
some new ideas that I'm pretty excited about. |

One result of my artistic enthusiasm is that I keep
outgrowing my modes of transporting all this art work around. Having
recently broken two leaf springs, and burnt a wheel bearing on my cargo
trailer, I realize it's time to upgrade the hauler, or stop adding more
artwork until I've sold much of what I'm carrying around. As I make my way
through Texas, whatever originals I have left may find their way on here at
considerable discount. In the meantime I want to offer the following two
giclee's.

(below) "November 16th".
These are both 16"x24" limited edition canvas
reproductions from my very first run in 2004. Because these were produced
before I started "gallery wrapping" my canvasses, these have a plain white
border around the image, more suitable for standard stretching and framing.
I am offering these as unstretched canvasses for
ONLY $75
to the first buyer to contact me. These generally sell for $495 stretched
and ready to hang, or $295 as a canvas. Upon purchase, I will sign, number,
varnish, and send them to you (SHIPPING
INCLUDED!)

So
there you have it! I'm all packed up and ready to hit the road for Texas in
just a few hours, and almost forgot to send this out! I welcome any comments
or question, I welcome Spring, and I welcome the recent continuing rally on
Wall Street! :)
Talk to y'all soon! |
