REStevensArt News 59 - 10/28/08   -   www.restevensart.com

Hey there everyone! I hope Fall is being gentle and colorful for you all. I always used to enjoy the season until I started building my house - and then Fall just meant HERE COMES WINTER! For those who've missed my declaration in the past - NOT a fan of being cold! As I now spend this first Fall and Winter in the house (see below), I hope to be able to get back to enjoying them. Of course, I still have to finish getting my heating system set up first!

Meanwhile, I've been stalling this issue of the noozleddar for a few days as I awaited the proof for the REStevensArt 2009 calendar. I finally got it, and it looks great! More on that further down the page. There continues to be muchly going on in the world-o-REStevensArt, so here we go:

#1: THE SHOWS!!!

Admittedly the overall economy is somewhat having it's way with my sales this month, but I'm excited nevertheless to share some awards I received while in So Cal recently. First, I was awarded the "Best In Show" ribbon in Studio City, and then a place ribbon for painting in Beverly Hills. I am quite flattered!

(above) A great corner spot at the Beverly Hills show enabled the "just words" piece and the new "crayon drawing I" to grab folks attention from quite a distance. (below) I was interviewed for a local tv show of sorts, primarily meant to inspire troubled youth.

#2: THE HOUSE

Saturday, October 25th, 2008. A date that will live in infamy! At least on Lonely Dove Lane. (right) A small army -o- folk helped me move what few items I actually own (besides paint brushes) into the new casa.

My son and I have now spent our first few nights in the house, and it's been quite magical! Having lived several years in a rather poorly built trailer, waiting to get this project underway, it's been especially exciting to not have any heater or cooler running yet enjoy a consistently comfortable 68-75 degrees inside the house. I still haven't had time to update the building page because I've been busy moving, creating art, and preparing for a busy string of art shows.

(below) The kitchen - during the move, and then during our first dinner. My daughter, Melissa; her beau, Brian and Roderick Jr. sit at the kitchen island, since I don't have a dining room table yet. I was quite giddy to use every appliance in the room! It's been very surreal walking around the place like it's a house, rather than a construction site.
#3: MORE NEW ART!!!

     Introducing "1000 words"!

#4:  NOOZLEDDAR AUCTIONS!!!

This has been quite the hectic month, so I wasn't able to keep up with some things, and didn't get my next auction pieces put together, and since there were no bids on the previous month's pieces, I've decided to just re-list them - but with EVEN LOWER starting bids! These are full sized giclee on canvas reproductions that can be had for the price of a matted print!

There are three pieces this month, because two of them can make a nice set together, yet I wanted to keep some variety going in these. Click on any of the images below to go to a page for these auctions.

NEW AUCTIONS for OCTOBER!

#1 : (above) "reunion II" - and
#2 : (below) "reunion III"
These are large giclee's 30"x24", and 24"x36" respectively that were hung in a public display here in Sierra Vista. The facility began a major remodel and needed me to remove the art for its own safety.

I'm auctioning them off separately, but thought I would list them together, because they might make a nice pair together for someone. Each one is starting at only $50! (That's more than a 95% discount!)

#2 : (below) "apple splash I"

This one is a printer's proof of the very popular, first apple splash painting I did. It is an unstretched 16"x24" giclee reproduction. I see no difference between this one and the one I had on display this past weekend, so I have concluded that this must have been our final proof, and I'm offering it here for a starting bid of only $35!

GOOD LUCK, AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!!

Check out the 2008
"Show Schedule"

(above and below) "1000 words"
This was my 2nd mixed media sculpture concept, but has been the longest to complete. It's modeled after the old Polaroid cameras of the 60's, with an image of my children backlit in the lens, and a friend's eye behind the viewfinder. Among those at the recent SoCal shows who were drawn to these new pieces, was the actor Topher Grace (That 70's Show), who loved "1000 words".
#5: 2009 REStevensArt Calendar

I finally received my proof for the calendar today, and it looks great! (see below) I am due to receive the final pieces next week some time and should be shipping all those pre-ordered ones out by about Nov. 10th. You can still order them at the following link for the WAY DISCOUNTED price of $15, plus just $5 for shipping.

http://www.restevensart.com/calendar09.htm

Previously, I had mentioned an extra 'gift' that I would be including with the calendar. The center page (aka centerfold) is a 12"x18" print of "Sunset & Harley".  That's even larger than the matted print that normally sells for $80, and it is included with the 2009 REStevensArt calendar FOR FREE!!!!

And don't forget, if you order 4 calendars, I'll send you a 5th one FREE!

Well, I'm now literally running out the door for a show in Woodland Hills, Ca. I was waiting to show you all the calendar proof, which ended up getting to me about 4 days LATE!!!! Anyway - better late than never, as they say.

Then next weekend I am doing a painting live on tv for a charity in Bisbee, Az. I will check in shortly thereafter.
