HI EVERYBODY!!! and Welcome to the list all Chicagolanders!
If you have received this, any sort of brief response is much appreciated to
let me know I got your addresses correct. The shows at The Glen, and Gold Coast were fan-dang-tabulous! The weather was gorgeous, the surrounding art was great, and I got bunches-o-work done! In fact, I got so much done over these past two weeks that it'll have to be spread over a few subsequent "noozleddars"! (right) First, I thought I'd share "wet board". This is a 36"x36" on wood panel I painted whilst showing in downtown Chicago. I had planned on doing another green apple piece, but wanted to pursue my preferred type of 'off the board' composition. Then in considering the remaining negative space, it occurred to me to simply make it 'wet', since those water droplets seem to be so appreciated by viewers! :-) |

This urban
adventure has been fun for Roderick Jr. and myself . For instance for the Gold Coast
show, our booth was a half-block away from the famed Chicago "L" (elevated
subway) - see the upper left corner of the picture below. We've taken much advantage of this mode-o-transpo
during our visit around Chicago (see more pix further down). |

(below) I took a picture of
Roderick Jr. taking a picture of the giant chrome kidney bean sculpture
known as "cloud gate" in Millennium Park; downtown Chicago.

(below) After years of hearing
"these are great! Do you have any martini's?" I finally got one done. :-)
Whilst showing at 'The Glen', I finished up this new one I call "bluetini"!
I don't have a great picture of it yet, but you get the idea. This is an
18"x48" wood panel.

(below) Ya' know - it's always
quite different to experience a masterpiece in person. As I walked away from
this painting, I spun around to grab a shot of it and realized that a much
more relevant photo is one of a viewer with the painting. It not only
demonstrates scale, but it invokes another emotion or idea beyond that
projected from the art itself. ![]() |
