REStevensArt News 54 - 07/28/08   -   www.restevensart.com

Hello everyone!

Well, Jr and I flew back home temporarily from Colorado where I had two surprisingly great shows! The Avon and Edwards art festivals were probably the two slowest shows I've ever attended. I'd almost bet between the two I never saw more than 600 people in six days, but I guess I was visited by just the right dozen of 'em! :-)

Of course the fruits, especially the apple splashes (the originals of which were shipped to their new home in Boca Raton, Fl.) were quite popular. I also completed a new (partially dissected) red apple painted on black melamine. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it - but I'll try to remember when I set up at my next show IN CHICAGO!!!!

Admittedly, when traveling alone I tend to spend as much time being productive as possible. Having my son with me gives me a reason to experience some of the more recreational aspects of life; such as ice skating (right) and whitewater rafting (below) for the first time in our lives! GREAT FUN!!!!

"Show Schedule"

Meanwhile, we sprinted back home for 10 days of plowing forward on the house, so I could call for my "final inspection" this week. This implies that I am further along than I am, but as long as I can satisfy their 95% criteria, I can finally roll out of this construction loan and get out of the constant time pressure for getting things done. I haven't had time yet to update the July page for the house-building webpage, so you'll just have to trust me that it's looking more and more like a place people might live in one day!

How about that REStevensArt Calendar!?!?

I thought I'd share the tentative list of paintings to be included in my first ever art calendar for 2009! I'm sure I won't be able to satisfy everyone's wishes for inclusions, but there's always 2010! :-)  Meanwhile, here they are, in no particular order yet.

I haven't settled on a publisher yet, so I'm not sure of the price. I can tell you that I hope to have it available by Christmas, and that I will offer it as a pre-sale here on the newsletter list with FREE SHIPPING for subscribers..

I must finish mapquesting like mad so I can find my way from from Denver to Glenview, Il. (just north of Chicago).  I hope to follow up here whilst in Chi-town with a couple of new paintings, and a new piece of 'mixed media sculpture'!  Until then, remember: if you understand something  .  .  . it is  .  .  . if you do not understand it  .  .  . it is.
