REStevensArt News 47 - 03/27/08   -   www.restevensart.com

Hello everybody!!!  To all those who signed up at the recent La Quinta Art Festival, welcome to the "noozleddar" list! For all the rest of you, there is some new art here that only the recent visitors have gotten to see, finished! I mentioned in the last issue that I've been on an 'art rampage'!!! and here are some more of the results.

(right) "apple splash white". This proved to be a real hit at the La Quinta show. In fact, I ended up taking orders for several giclee's only one day after I finished the painting, and had at least three different people seriously considering purchasing the original 24"x36" on suspended wood panel! As you can see, this is a fun companion piece to the "apple splash black" piece I unveiled earlier this month. And as always, my love of photography is reflected in my use of the paint brush.

(below) "desert sunset". Like "Tucson sunset" in the last issue, this is another example of my dabblings with more expressionistic painting. I'm neck deep in plumbing, electrical, and drywall for the moment, (I haven't even had time to update the house construction page) but as soon as I'm able I look forward to exploring this theme even more!

(below) - "just words". This has been one of my most exciting creations! While simmering in the heat at the show in Naples, Florida recently, I was suddenly inspired to build a giant typewriter! This fun piece of mixed-media sculpture measures 4'x4'! Each button is 2.5" in diameter!

I spent most of that following week meandering around three different Home Depot's, two Pearl's, and a Michael's brewing about it's construction. I continued to work on it while showing at the Gasparilla Art show in Tampa, Fl., and though it was unfinished, it definitely got folks attention. Happily it found a home in La Quinta, Ca. the first time it showed as a completed piece last weekend. I intend to build another of similar size, and one smaller. This project quickly spawned MANY new ideas for mixed media pieces which I intend to dive into as soon as I have gotten far enough along on the house!

Now another reminder that I am ALWAYS looking for charities that can use artwork! Many of you have introduced me to various charities you work with, etc. and I just want to remind you that I welcome repeat donations. If you've gotten a piece from me in the past for a particular charity, don't think I won't donate to the same thing again.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I believe wholeheartedly that this explosion of art from me is purely the product of God, and I'm quite certain God doesn't want me to be greedy with it! Let me know if you know of anyone who can benefit from anything I've created.
