REStevensArt News 44 - 01/24/08   -   www.restevensart.com

Pardon the delayed welcome to 2008. Holy Mackeral - Over a month has gone by since the last noozleddar! I hope all your holidays (Christmas or otherwise) and New Year's have gone quite swell! I, once again felt incredibly grateful for the presence of my children (and their assorted friends) during the season. I spent much of November defiantly declaring that I WOULD put up a Christmas tree at the new house  .  .  . but in the end, time won (as is usually the case).

I've primarily been SWAMPED with trying to get further along on the house. We're almost done with exterior finishing, and have been plowing forward with plumbing, electrical, and drywall.

You can check out the latest updates, here.

(above) I thought y'all might get a kick out of one of the more 'artsy' components I've created for the house. This concrete countertop was formed to sit atop a granite sink, and when I realized I wouldn't be able to match the shape of the sink exactly, I decided it would be better to let it become a little loosy-goosy at the edges.

(above) I also realized that I hadn't yet shared this 'red rose' with you. This is a painting I started last February (along with the two white rose paintings) while I was in Florida. In fact, I was featured on a local news channel (in Jupiter) teaching the field reporter how to add a water droplet to this one. I never quite finished the larger painting of which this was intended to be a 'part', but have decided to offer giclee's of just this image. Click on it to see a larger image.

Otherwise, I am preparing for my month-long volley around Florida for the month of February. This year I'll be in Mount Dora (near Orlando), Jupiter (near Palm Beach), Naples, and then Tampa. Then I race home long enough to do some laundry before I head off to the infamous La Quinta Art Show in Southern California. Next time I write will be from somewhere in Florida! Talk to ya' L8R,
