REStevensArt News 35 - 06/04/07   -   www.restevensart.com

Well, I'm back to work on the house - which leaves me little time to paint, or "noozleddar". Nevertheless - here I iz!!!! I'm so covered in dirt, sweat, concrete, and tractor grease that you may need to wash your OWN hands after reading this! :-)  I must admit, I'm fascinated by how much I can enjoy painting and showing and then turn around and find similar passion in moving dirt around, screwing steel together, and having a love affair with concrete!

Above is the first of two concrete benches I've built into a wall in my dining room. You can see the rebar and holes for the second one. When the wall itself is completed, it will be smoothed out, drywalled, and finished in a stone-like texture.

To the right, Brian (my daughter's beau) and I prepare to concrete the first steel box beam post into place, at my garage.

Meanwhile! I finally finished "sheer driving pleasure"! This was a challenging piece, but I feel it was worth the effort and wait. As many of you have heard me describe, I'm really not much of a fan of just "automotive art", and with this commissioned piece I strove to find some more engaging way to display this new BMW. The props are all mine: an 'Investor's Business Daily' newspaper (which they desperately tried to get me to subscribe to), an Am Ex bill, an electric bill, my wallet, glasses, a copy of a kitchen design magazine, and an issue of American Cinematographer. Reproductions of this piece are available in two sizes 24"x36", and 16"x24".

A note, especially for all you Arizona folks (or visitors to Az.) A GREAT little day trip to a cooler climate than Phoenix or Tucson is Bisbee! Loitering around in the 5000'+ Mule Mountains, Bisbee is full of stimulating attractions from the mine tour, Lavendar Pit, haunted B&B's, jewelry shops, museums, and the
55 MAIN GALLERY!!!!

Located at  .  .  . 55 Main street, this large but intimate gallery was the very first spot one could purchase an REStevensArt painting.

I'm sorry to say, I probably won't be getting many new paintings done in the next few months, so I'll mostly share the progress on the casa. Which I must head out to now, so I can finish filling in a monstrous electrical trench, and get to work on my garage.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for collecting! I didn't have time to write up any 'specials' this week, but tell me if a particular piece interests you, and I'll let you know if there are any first run reproductions, or printer's proofs available (both of which I am selling at significant discounts). Also, don't forget that I am always looking for charities to donate pieces to. Thanks again!
