WOW!!

I've been trying for two weeks to set aside time to sit down and put a noozleddar together - and I've got lots to share. In fact, too much for just one issue - so I'll have to dish it out in a few of 'em.

First of all, I welcome LOTS of folks from four different shows in Indian Wells, Ca.; and Austin, Fort Worth, and Southlake Texas! I think I developed carpool tunnel syndrome from entering all of these new addresses! :-) (over 400 altogether)

Meanwhile, it's been a roller coaster few weeks since the last 'issue'! (somewhat literally). After Indian Wells, my children and I spent a weekend at the usual Southern California theme parks. I admit, I am an absolute sucker for the Disney atmosphere - a big kid in a kilt, I tell ya'!

The following weekend, I ventured to Texas for the Austin Fine Arts Festival, where I was greeted by violent winds approaching 100mph. An in-line front with tornado-like gusts literally tossed dozens of art booths (including mine) like tumbleweeds, down the streets. Fortunately, I suffered only minor injuries to body and artwork, though I had to re-build my booth from scratch the next day.

(below) I finished the last of the "Tijon soaps", and delivered the originals to their owner while attending Main Street Ft. Worth. These are now available as individual reproductions, or as a "four soaps" combo like below.

(below) Here, I am working on a commissioned painting of a BMW, during rare breaks at Main Street Ft. Worth. This is the last photo of me with the long mane, as I got it mostly chopped off a few days later. I'm going to be working outside all Summer, building my house in the Arizona desert, so I thought it was time to lighten the load up top for a while! :-)

One of the funnest experiences in Texas was watching a group of high school students acquire original artwork for a traveling display, utilizing a grant issued by a local energy company. They were given the task of purchasing artwork for this ongoing display, and one of the first pieces they latched on to was the "black apple" (below).

In general, once again, Texas was quite responsive (to say the least! :-) to my artwork! I got to see LOTS of familiar folks, and returning friends from last year, as well as plenty-o-new visitors and collectors! The weather was great both weekends in Ft. Worth and Southlake.

Lots of folks at these latter two shows got to see my slow progress on the BMW painting, and I am pleased to announce it is indeed finished! It is now titled "Sheer Driving Pleasure"! I'm excited to share the final image in the next noozleddar.

I'm sure there's much more I want to ramble about, BUT I really must get back to work compacting a final lift of a/b, flush with the bottom of my wet-set stem wall atop my footings, through which I now have to jackhammer a channel to run the drainage (2" abs at 1/4" per foot slope) from my chop sink which I forgot about when I did the initial pour  .  .

sigh  .  . (of course, I had no idea what any of that meant 6 months ago).

I will be offering some special pricing this summer on printer's proofs and some giclee's, as I look towards approaching next year's art show season with some new work. By the time many of you see me again, I may be coming in with some interesting black & white photography in addition to my paintings. We shall see. Thanks bunches for reading!
