Howdy!!!!

Welcome all South Floridians and assorted peninsula visitors - to the REStevensArt "Noozleddar" list! Here you'll hear about the most recent shows and the upcoming shows, see the latest paintings, and get to preview upcoming pieces.

Before I go on, some of you received a repeat of the Feb. 7th edition. Please accept my apology for taking up unnecessary bandwidth. When I fired up the computer at home (from which I had my daughter send out that noozleddar whilst I was in Florida), I did not catch that it was also still queued up in my outbox - until after I'd hit the send button. Please forgive the redundancy.

Meanwhile, Florida was a great trip! I encountered 2300 miles of rain, a barrage of tornados, several nights of near freezing temperatures, and an army of horseshoe crabs, yet avoided the jellyfish, made many new friends, ran into some old friends, caught an abundance of Oscar nominated films, started several new paintings (and even finished a few), and WON 1st Place Painting at the ArtiGras show in Jupiter!

(above) In addition to a welcomed cash prize, I was awarded a 1st Place ribbon, and given this award flag to display for the remainder of "ArtiGras"! Fun Stuff!

(above) Spending my birthday, painting at a secluded little cove in South Florida. Of course, you may notice the missing artist here. I'll let you guess how I spent my breaks.

(below) "Tijon Soap #1" - You can see this one in progress on the easel at my lagoon studio above.

Another Texas collector enjoyed my "soap" pieces so much, he asked me to do a series for his own personal brand of natural, hand poured soaps.  Of course not wanting to simply repeat myself, I came up with the idea of capturing the instant the bar of soap splashes into a body of water.

It took over 100 photographs to come up with the few that I then fused together to create the reference image I wanted. There will be four paintings of four different bars, each with a change in perspective and background to compliment each individual type of soap. When they are all done, I will post a page about them.

Due to popular demand, I've finally given in to creating matted prints of some of these latest 'square' paintings. So many people at the last several shows have asked about prints especially of the fruit pieces, and the guitars.

(below) "music store I"

These are 7"x7" images, printed with archival pigments (not inkjet dyes) onto archival paper, then double matted into a 12"x12" piece, which fits many 'scrap-booking', and 'album cover' frames. They are shipped with an acid free backing board, in a clear protective bag.

Like the 11"x14" matted prints, these will be priced at $40 at the shows, but you all can take advantage of my Ebay auctions and potentially pick them up for a fraction of that price.

Otherwise, I don't imagine I'll get as much done on my house as I'd like this month. Just a reminder that I am spending March showing in Arizona (Scottsdale & Tucson), and SoCal (Indian Wells), then making my Texas run (Austin, Ft. Worth, Southlake) in April, and then will take the remainder of the year off until October so I can finish my house.

I recently became obsessively (like most artists) inspired by a particular subject which I began painting at the ArtiGras show, so I hope to have a series of new pieces to share here in a couple of weeks when I return from Scottsdale! Until then, thanks for reading and for collecting!
