Wow!

Well, THAT was a great  time! Who'd-a-thunk? The Art In The Park, here in Sierra Vista, Az. was quite the hit! Some rain on Sunday slowed things down a bit, but Saturday was packed! It was nice having such a huge booth to display in, and it's great fun, building up a collector base in my own home town!

     But man am I exhausted. It took me 8 hours on Friday, and 4 more on Saturday to get this temporary, 300 square foot gallery set up
. It took me until Tuesday to recuperate!

     Meanwhile, I am excited to share this latest piece,
"on the rocks" (see below).

At the "Art In The Park" - Sierra Vista, Arizona

    This original was commissioned at the Vail, Colorado show in August! I had considered calling it "tea and jell-o" - since those are the elements I used in the reference photograph. I found I could control the color of tea to get exactly what I was looking for, and I had a specific size and shape I sought for the ice cubes, which I could not find anywhere. Ice cube trays didn't produce the right shape, and none of the restaurants I visited had the right kind of ice either. Finally, a friend and I stumbled on the idea of clear gelatin, and voila!

    I also spent a fair bit of time on the wood itself n- as in the actual piece of wood in the reference photo. Sanding, staining, sanding and staining again, and then varnishing with a half dozen layers of urethane gave me the rich, specular table top I was looking for. Computer monitors certainly don't do justice to the vibrant colors on this one!

    In other news: the sentiment was overwhelmingly positive for the painted pony, as it was displayed in the middle of my booth this weekend; and people definitely loved the tuning knobs! I did not get a chance to thank all of you who responded to my previous request for input on it - so here it is. THANKS BUNCHES!!!! Your feedback is invaluable and much appreciated.

MOVING SALE!!!!

    Lastly; I'm FINALLY moving forward on my house project. I will begin the building process shortly after I return from Texas. I am starting to pack things up here, and I've got some inventory I want desperately to move, and so have decided to discount it. These are some of the first giclee on canvas reproductions I assembled in the beginning, back when I was mounting on standard stretcher bars, and making my own frames. Once I discovered "gallery - wrapping", I began only displaying that way at the art shows, so these pieces have been hanging in various local shows and in my living room!

(above) - Low # giclee's of "end table", on standard thickness stretcher frames are available at significant discount!

     These are same quality reproductions as any that I sell at shows, but are simply stretched on standard thickness stretcher strips, and are ready for framing. Some are even already IN frames. And they have the added benefit of being even earlier numbers in the series. I am offering them for 30% off and more. So, for instance a 24"x36" giclee of "52.5", which would normally run $895, is available for $595. A 16"x24" of "November 16th"; retailing for $495, is available here for $295. The pieces I have available in this 'sale', include;

     Click on the titles above to see images, or visit the gallery at www.restevensart.com . Then let me know what piece you might be interested in, and I can tell you what size and edition # is available. Otherwise, I must get back to packing for Texas!

     Thanks bunches everyone, for reading and responding, and collecting! I appreciate you all.
