Welcome to Fall!

O.k., I gotta say! This has definitely been one of the hardest paintings I've done! Marble aint canvas! And a horse aint flat! But I'm lovin' the results. As mentioned a few weeks ago, I was suddenly inspired while working on "music store I" - you remember, the one with the geetarz! It occurred to me that the shape of the guitar, and that of the horse were meant to be fused. So fuse I did! I went back to that same music store and gathered up some more reference photos of electric guitars and went to work on the horse. These aren't the best photographs - just quick snapshots, but I wanted to share the progress thus far.

Now, I need some feedback though. Those of you familiar with the "Trail Of The Painted Ponies" series may know that some of them have additional elements added on for various effects. To that end I considered adding some things like the guitar strap, and tuning knobs along the head. But I am undecided. Should I go with them? Go without them? Move the tuning knobs elsewhere? Use the strap and not the tuning knobs? etc. etc. I am open and eager to hear all input, so please send me your suggestions! Below/right is a closer shot of the head with some temporary tuning knobs.

I also produced a new set of the fruits, but with two differences. #1, these are 24"x24" rather than 36"x36", and #2, instead of a red apple, I did some strawberries. I enjoyed it so much, I did another set of strawberries for the 36"x36" set.

I have a few other paintings I am working on as I continue to wade through various obstacles on my house project, which I will share in the coming weeks. For the moment, I am excited about showing next weekend here at the local "Art In The Park", and then heading off to Texas!

I may toss out another holla before I hit the road next week. Till then - "Life is! So love the one you got!"
