HAPPY LABOR DAY !!!!

And welcome all Coloradoans!!!!

Thank you for such a warm welcome to the Rocky Mountain State! What a wonderful journey August has been. Even traveling back from these two shows (which both went quite well!), kept me ever mystified by the world around me. I look forward to spending some more time up there next year. "green apple" (right) was the hit of both shows, and sold in Vail! "red apple" sold in Telluride, and "pear" and "peach" both got quite a bit of attention as well. "music store I" was also well received at both shows! A note of humorous triviality: I've raved about how well my art was received in Texas, and two of my bigger sales in Colorado were to people from Texas! :-) In fact, I'm delivering one in Houston next month when I go there for the Bayou City Art Festival!

For now, I am excited about the preparations to show here at our very own "Art In The Park" in Sierra Vista! This is the largest outdoor art show in Arizona, filling up our city park on October 7th & 8th. I will have a MONSTER booth at 15' wide by 20' deep. In the mean time, I have been quite occupied with my biggest piece of art to date (see below).

While this particular manifestation of "green apple" is now sold (as is the red one), I will be replacing both apples with new versions in order to keep it a full set. I've also got some 'veggies' to tinker with (in a different theme) once I've completed two commissions I'm in the middle of. Go to www.restevensart.com to see more!

It is ever-evolving, but this is a sketch of my new house project in one of it's more recent manifestations. This is the northern exposure, hence the lack-o-windows. I'm looking at extending the entryway a bit, but you get the idea. It's inspired by the architecture of the Inca's and Aztecs! Had film-making not taken the forefront, architecture would have been my path of choice and I'm greatly enjoying the process of designing my own humble abode.

 COMING UP!

The Huachuca Art Association sponsors the "Art In The Park" annually at the Sierra Vista Veterans Memorial Park. The two-day event takes place the first weekend in October, and is one of the finest art fairs in the Southwest, attracting artists from all over the country, and drawing an estimated 25,000 to 40,000 visitors.

I am videotaping much of the process of building this inexpensive, easy to build, extremely efficient, and generally planet friendly home to help show people how possible it is. I will be doing by far the majority of the labor myself, so the next year may prove to be quite strenuous! I am committed to completing at least one new painting per month during the process however, and while I will be doing fewer shows than in the past, rest assured I will still be out there. In fact, I'm currently looking at a string of shows in Florida for February, Texas in April, Colorado next August, and assorted Arizona and SoCal shows in between.

Well, I'm gonna keep this installment brief because I'm diving into the long-awaited "painted pony" piece now. I hope to share some progress on it in the next noozleddar!

I'll close on one last note. I realized this weekend that I did not get as much response as I usually do when I last called for suggestions on charities. I like to keep a steady flow of pieces going out to various causes, and the last three months have been rather slow in that regard. If anyone has any connections with charitable organizations that could use some artwork for auctions, gifts, etc. please send me the particulars to roderick@cinema-vista.com. Thanks bunches everyone. I'll catch up some more in a couple of weeks!
