REStevensArt News 20 - 07/26/06 -       www.restevensart.com

Hi everybody!!!!

Well, I've been ONE BUSY FELLA this past few weeks! I've completed another half dozen NEW paintings, as well as finished up several custom reproductions!

For instance, below, and to the right are the latest manifestations of " cans-o-paint I "! Of course, one of the things I love about the reproductions of this piece (deconstructed or otherwise) is that each and every one is unique. Though it is a limited edition of 200 - really, no two can be the same, because I can rearrange the panels in assorted patterns AND the layer of paint and brush (or whatever else I come up with in the future) is added separately to each one. With this one, I even varnished the red paint and roller streaks with a thick, high gloss - that makes them pop out even more against the matte varnished panels.

As I've shared here before, one of the reasons I embraced the idea of 'cutting up' this painting in the first place was simply to keep pushing myself to 'let go'! Well, each time I begin to make the 3rd dimension alterations to these pieces (paint streaks and brushes and whatnot), I experience trepidation - as I'm about to paint over these rather costly prints. For the "splattered version" below, I took it even further and let go of any control of the final result. I literally hung the piece on a wall and then flung paint across it (after several practice flings of course). I love it!

And following are additional fruits of my labor! Believe it or not, that was a completely unintentional pun. Another collector from Texas brought up this peachy idea (man they just keep on comin') at Main St. Ft. Worth in April. These originals are each 36"x36" and are available as full size reproductions as well as 20"x20" and in my little 9"x9" size. Among my dozen or so paintings still to do, I may also add some strawberries to this series. Click on any of the images below to see them in a larger slide show.

Both of these Arts Festival are three-day outdoor celebrations of the visual and culinary arts. The primary focus of the event is the juried exhibition of gallery quality fine art and fine crafts, giving our audience the rare opportunity to meet, interact with, view the works of and purchase art from the individuals who have created it. Additionally, the Telluride Arts Festival offers an exceptional culinary experience featuring guest chef demonstrations and an upscale clientele for the dining events.

I'll have even more new pieces to share in the next nOOzledder, so stay tuned!

Meanwhile, I don't remember if I've mentioned the 9"x9" - "soap" and "faucet" panels I have available now. These come in a variety of colors, stretched to 2" deep, and double glazed with varnish (since most folks iz puttin' these in bathrooms).

Many have asked me what's up with the "Trail Of The Painted Ponies" piece (see below).

Artistic inspiration finally struck recently and I am brewing up a concept for this piece which I am very excited about. Many of you may remember, I was invited to paint one of these marble sculptures to later be reproduced in to the collectible figurines that are found all across the country. For more information about these pieces, go to www.trailofpaintedponies.com. I started painting mine back in February, didn't like how it was coming out, and so started over. Since then I've been unable to really find enthusiasm for any ideas until last week. I will share more as it develops, but wanted to give you a bit of an update.

Well, that's all for now folks! It's back to the paint mines with me! I'm very excited about these new pieces I'm working on! Check ya' L8R!
