REStevensArt News 18 - 07/01/06 -       www.restevensart.com

Hey all!

     HAPPY 4TH-O-JULY!!!!

Well, I've had to do it again - the laptop is off in repair land and once again I had to compile this list manually, so if you are receiving this against your wishes, please just send me a note and I'll take you off the list promptly.

On the other hand, I discovered an entire page full of people from shows in Arizona that somehow got left out for the past couple -o- months! Sheesh! So, welcome to all of you from various shows and various states, including the recent La Jolla Festival Of The Arts last weekend.

I am home now for the next 6 weeks. Aaahhhh. Me and the van are in need of some rest and repair. I'm very excited about a few paintings I'm brewing up for the month, and I've been gathering up props and such for the past couple of days. Meanwhile, I thought I'd share my latest deconstructed idea.

A couple of weeks ago I came up with an idea for the "flash-faucet" piece, but didn't have time to put one together prior to this latest show in SoCal. This can be created in all sorts of manifestations, but the example here is I take a 20"x20" black & white version of "flash-faucet" and disect it into four, staggered panels (like cans-o-paint I). I Then replace one of those 'segments' with a 10"x10" complete and colored rendition. I could even make the color one a variation of "soap" piece.

Also, for the next show I will be assembling a version of "four-faucets" something like this to the right. Both the "deconstructed flash-faucet" and the "four faucets" are available in varying sizes starting at $595 for approximately 12"x36" overall.

Remember - you've only got about 2 weeks left on the deal to make your artwork purchase a tax-deductible donation!

OFFER *
ONLY FROM NOW UNTIL JULY 15TH, 2006!!!

Presently, we have some exciting things happening with our "humane work hours" crusade - 12on/12off , and I am now ambitiously raising money for it. To that end, all REStevensArt reproductions sold between now and 07/15/06 will be considered a contribution to said cause. This is a 501(C)3 corporation, so donations are fully tax deductible (consult your tax attorney or accountant for individual restrictions).

     You can go to
www.12on12off.org to read more about it, but the overview is this. Many of you know, that my "other" job is Cinematography. I am passionate about getting producers to schedule more reasonable work hours for film production crews. Nowadays it is all too common for a crew to work 16-18 hours per day each day, with little turnaround time for sleep, family, and friends. Not only are they kept from having any sort of life outside of production, but often times they find themselves driving off the side of the road during their daily commute! Everyone on the road is in danger at that point! A high-profile example is the death of first assistant cameraman Brent Hershman, who perished in an auto accident while driving home from his fifth 16 hour day in a row during the production of "Pleasantville" (1998), leaving behind a wife and two small children. A documentary dedicated to this issue, called "Who Needs Sleep" was recently produced by legendary cinematographer Haskell Wexler!

A review of affordable ways to acquire REStevensArt!

Quite a few people have joined the list since I first began offering these "alternatives", and since I'm taking a brief hiatus from shows, I thought it would be a good time to re-introduce them. I notice that a whole lot of people following my artwork are rich in taste, yet nevertheless working with limited budgets and this has inspired the following two ideas for acquiring my reproductions more affordably.

OPTION 1: Un-stretched Canvasses. Purchasing a reproduction as an un-stretched canvas saves you in two ways. #1, since it is less material and labor on my end, I can sell them at a significantly discounted price. #2, a rolled canvas in a tube ships for much less than a mounted, and boxed piece. This canvas is numbered, signed, and varnished, and can then be taken to any local frame shop and stretched on either standard or 'gallery wrap' stretchers for a minimal cost. Check your local area, but my research thus far has revealed prices ranging from $30-$100 depending on size, market, and type.

So for instance, I offer my full size giclee's which are normally priced at $895, for
ONLY $595!!!! and my smaller $495 giclee's are priced this way at ONLY $295!!!! AND, through the month of August, I will even INCLUDE SHIPPING within the continental U.S. This is a savings of over 35% PLUS no charge for shipping! This does not apply to originals, or 'deconstructed' pieces, but to just about every other reproduction at the website - www.restevensart.com .

OPTION 2: 0% financing for 6 months! Yes - just like those jewelry and furniture stores and whatnot! As long as the artwork is bought directly through me with a credit card (not via PayPal), I will simply divide the purchase price into 6 equal monthly payments. This means, you could have a  full size  - 24"x36" of "Sunset & Harley" for just $99 initially, or a 20"x20" of "soap" for only $49 (custom colors are an additional $80). After the initial payment, all subsequent payments will be charged on the 1st or 15th of the month (your choice).

I'll be gradually building this into the website, with a self-contained shopping cart, and all that groovlicious stuff, but to roll this out, I'll be offering it only through the newsletter at first.  Simply send me a note to roderick@cinema-vista.com, or call (323)353-8202 and let me know which piece you're interested in and whether you want to take advantage of OPTION 1, OPTION 2, or both - and you'll have a piece of artwork shipped out to you as promptly as possible!

Well, that's all for now! I'm excited to get to work, and will share how things are going in a couple of weeks. Until then - Happy 4th of July (at least to all those in the U.S. :-) ) and I hope you're all enjoying your Summer  .  . (for all those in the Northern hemisphere).
