I'm BAAAAACK!!!!!

Well THAT was fun! Well, the last "Noozledder" was a short'un, and this one makes up for it! :-) Before I continue, if you are getting this as a "simple text only" document - then you're not really gettin' the good stuff. In that case - you can CLICK HERE, or go to www.restevensart.com, and follow the "Noozledders" link to issue #09!

Since last writing, I attended the Russo & Steel Auto Auction in Scottsdale! What a SHOW! Boy did I do some reminiscing while prancing around all these immaculately restored and custom muscle cars and exotics! I was once again reminded of the folly of having sold my well optioned, 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 ! :-( I watched a 1968 Barracuda stock race car go for TWO MILLION DOLLARS!!!! BTW, welcome to those joining the list from both the auto auction and from the fine art festival in Ventana the following weekend! I'm almost done with the engine painting I've been working on throughout, and will hopefully be sharing it here in the next installment.

Now, I beg you all to indulge me on a bit of a tangent. Immediately following the auto auction, my daughter and I attended the Sundance Film Festival - ALWAYS a blast! We caught some great features and shorts, mingled with some fun folks (like Dennis Hopper, Darryl Hannah, and Roger Ebert), and did a bit of skiing  .  . no really, I have witnesses! The documentary I was involved in, "Who Needs Sleep"; which demonstrates the detriment to family, health and even life, from the horrendous work hours so prevalent in the film industry, was quite well received, as was my own little crusade against such practices -
"12on/12off, Inc.". Of course, while in Park City, I visited a few of those wonderful galleries, including the local branch of Coda. MAN I LOVE ART!!!!

Following Sundance, I attended Jewell's Fine Art Fest at Ventana in Tucson! There, I had my first showing of the various colors of my latest piece "Soap", which I shared here in an early manifestation back in December. I presented four different flavors of reproduction, including it's original color, Blue; plus Rose, Green, and Lavender. It was a definite HIT! :-)I also sold an interesting mounting of the approximately 1' x 4' proof strip showing all four colors! As I suspected, this has proven to be a very popular piece. Have I mentioned, folks just LOVE them bubbles?!

"SOAP" IS A HIT!
(below) - SOAP! Click on it to see the various colors currently available! This piece has already attracted lots of attention at it's first two showings. Besides being a fun and interesting piece, giclee's are available in all sorts of colors, composites, and configurations to fit any taste. I can even create CUSTOM giclee's color matched to specific existing decor!

The Trail Of The Painted Ponies

I wrote here previously about not catching the sunset for the photo shoot of the Mustang for the "Trail Of The Painted Ponies" piece. As I was feeling frustrated about it, I kept reminding myself that things always work out, and OFTEN for the better. Sure enough, a couple days later I caught sight of the perfect car - a highly customized, black, 2006 "Dynatek Racing" Mustang Convertible! Quite closer to what I had imagined in the first place. As it turned out, this custom builder/racer was in town for a few days and excitedly agreed to haul his beast out to the dry lake bed for me. The shots came out beautifully! I must admit  .  .  . I'm thinking about acquiring one of these modern day muscle cars myself. I won't spoil the painting by showing you those pictures yet, but here is one of my own car that I took to finish off the role already in the camera (yes I still prefer to shoot film. :-) )

In other news, I finally decided to reproduce "drumming in the rain"! This has been one of my most "sought after" pieces since the beginning. I hadn't originally intended to sell or reproduce this painting of my son, but after a large number of people inquired about it, I decided to go for it, and will now have giclee's available!

Lastly, I was recently informed of my invitation to show at the nationally reknown "Main Street - Ft. Worth Arts Festival"; often heralded as one of the top shows in the country! I'm quite giddy, and half of April will now be spent in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area attending this and another show the following weekend. Meanwhile - I'm off to work a deal on a larger cargo van (I've outgrown my present van), and get it packed up for the Southwest Arts Festival in Indio, Ca. this weekend! I'll be checking in again in a week or so - probably on my birthday!!! :-)
