Happy New Year!!!!

Welcome to 2006, everyone! Firstly, I must apologize to those who have no idea what this is or why you're getting it. My laptop is off getting a tune-up and when I transferred my address book from it to the desktop via my Blackberry, I discovered (too late) that it doesn't carry over distribution lists. SOOOO, i had to go through and manually put the list of over 300 people together by memory (not so good). Please, if you are getting this newsletter, and you'd rather not - simply send me a quick reply note and i will take you out of the list. Otherwise - read and enjoy - it's just about art - not too painful - might even be fun! :-)

It's been great taking a few weeks off from touring the art shows! I got to stay home and be with my children more, actually CLEAN my office (seemingly for the first time in 3 months), get back on my diet & exercise routine (badly needed), and visit with friends. Below is a photo from a small gathering of some classmates the day after Christmas. I spent New Year's Eve with some very special friends, but was in bed by 11:00 and down at Home Depot at 8:00 the next morning buying materials for my display booth! :-)

I also got to spend a LOT of time working on my latest piece - titled "Niña De Guerrero" (below)

This commissioned piece is my largest painting to date at 48" x 60", and took over 200 hours to complete! The temporary image on the website truly does not do it justice. I hope to have an improved digital acquisition of it by the next newsletter. Meanwhile, there is also an additional "Progress" page demonstrating the work in 8 stages. I will have giclee's of this piece available in two weeks (Jan. 17).

I intended to write in here that I've done the photo shoot for the upcoming "Trail Of The Painted Ponies" piece. To the right should have been a snapshot from it, but I didn't get out to the Wilcox Playa (a dry lake bed, about an hour away), in time to catch the sunset - so I will be trying again shortly and will be working on that piece promptly, including possibly AT the Russo And Steele Auto Auction, but meanwhile, here is a shot of the canvas for another painting I hope to be working on soon.

I mentioned in a previous newsletter that I would be running off to the snow covered mountain town of Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival - because a documentary I'm involved in (about the dangerously horrendous work hours in the film industry) is premiering there. I have since learned that another feature I lensed in 2003 is also premiering that same week at the 'Park City Film Festival', which is quite exciting.

I am presently preparing for these upcoming art shows, and upgrading my display booth with a bit of a  .  .  'lift'! I have created pedestals for the canopy, raising it up an extra two feet, which gives it a more airy and open feel inside and allows significantly more display area above. It makes quite a difference! Lots of work to do though - so I'll check back in a couple of weeks!
