REStevensArt News 06 - 12/23/05 -       www.restevensart.com

Happy Holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Lithuanian National Chile Cook-off Day) and whatnot everyone!

Welcome to the list - all newcomers from the 4th Avenue Street Fair (Tucson, Az.) and elsewhere! And while I'm at it - a reminder that while this is "noozledder #06", you can review any past issues at the Newsletters page.

The show in Tucson went well again. Even though I tend to fit in better at more "fine art" shows, this particular show (having done it twice now) has proven to be a good one! It's also fun running into lots of familiar faces - fellow artists and visitors here as well! This year, I stayed at the nearby Hotel Congress and got to walk through most of the show each day to get to my booth, which was great fun!

The big sellers for me included, as usual "Sunset & Harley", but also "mixing colors" got some good attention this time and a couple of those giclee's found new Tucson area homes, which was a pleasant surprise. During this show I also became committed to producing limited edition giclee's of "drumming in the rain" which consistently gets a lot of strong response.

(below)     While attending the 4th Ave show, I completed (sort of) "soap". The reactions were fun. A LOT of people were more interested in the soap in progress than the finished pieces surrounding me.

It's the BUBBLES! People loved the bubbles. I sense that this is about a few things, including just their happy "bubbliness"! :-) They're just FUN! I say it's "sorta" done because I'm not entirely happy with the background at the moment, so I may revisit it. For that reason, you are all getting an exclusive sneak peak at this piece since I won't be putting it up on the gallery just yet. I will try to get back to it some time in January or February after I've gotten a couple of other pieces done, including a large commission which I'm very anxious to share.

The column to the left includes information for the two upcoming January shows. I'd like to mention that the week in between these two shows I will once again attend the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah - as I have the past few years. This year is particularly exciting because a documentary I've been involved in for the past two years was accepted into the program.
I'll be flying up for the premiere and press conference for that film, and while there I'll hit a few other screenings and then tumble down a hill occasionally landing on a pair of ski's too! And YES, I WILL wear my kilt there during the day!

(left) having just learned to ski last year at Sundance.
Now I must get back to the wrapping, sneaking, stuffing -o- stockings, painting, cleaning, unpacking, rebuilding, stretching, framing, fixing, washing, feeding, playing, and  .  .  . living! I hope to check in again shortly before the Russo And Steele Auto Auction in mid January. Thanks for being there everyone!
