OCTOBER '07

BACK to "House Home"

THIS PAGE IS STILL BEING UPDATED (it is afterall, still October. :-)

I spent SIX WEEKS - "on the verge" of closing in, and FINALLY finished up the loft roof on October 15th!!! Now the race to "dry in" and get HEAT going. No Sir  .  .  . I don't like the cold! I told ya' many more pictures this month!

click on each picture to see an enlargement.

This is inside the nearly enclosed West wing. Did I mention, I'm STILL waiting for steel to finish the South eaves?

I gots a killer deal on some cabinets! I just gotta do some customizing here and there.

The stairs up to the loft.

Closeup of the 'diamond plate' patterned concrete steps we've been making for two months!

More progress on the master bath garden tub pop-out. Here we've installed the windows and started filling out the corner forms.

Look at the SIZE of that gopher snake (nearly 6')!!

My friend Les, a fan of shaded windows, suggested I recess this South facing wall-o-glass in the loft. This gave me a great bench for my deck as well!

This is the South loft wall from inside.

This is looking up into the loft from the den.

More EIFS on the front of the house and then over the East wing, including what has become known as the "belltower".

Brian snapped a pic of me through the belltower, working on the loft trusses.

This is what it looks like halfway through the month of October.

Jr. found himself a cute little 'racer' snake. It's a good thing we're all fans of nature!

The cooler pad, w/duct that comes up through the floor in the West wing. The cooler is rated for 1/2 this sq. footage, and still should be overkill.

Mounting brackets for the 'faux' vigas. Methinks more pecky cedar is destined for these, but I haven't committed yet.

EIFS'ing the East wing end wall. I'm quite tired of EIFS'ing now.

These are my 'self-engineered' roof trusses above the loft. In the end, I must say - I believe they are the strongest structural steel in the building

Jr. is filling the seams between the trusses and the roof panels with polyurethane.

Here, we're putting the foam roof panels onto my 'engineered' trusses.

The view of the almost closed in kitchen and loft. Almost closed in. Almost closed in. Almost closed in.

This is what it looked like as of Halloween, 2007.
