NOVEMBER  '07

BACK to "House Home"

So of course, there are various stages of "closed in". In September I got all but one of the walls, and all but one section of roof in place (but not covered or "finished"). While waiting for a very small bit of steel for the entire month of October, we were unable to 'close-in' any further. FINALLY in November we completed ALL the walls and roof sections, but of course we're not truly closed in until all the doors and windows are installed. For this we must finish exterior finish, kitchen cabinets and countertops, and work in THE COLD! I swear I will be CLOSED IN in December!!!

A view not oft seen other than by cows.

Foam/cementitious 'popouts' surround all the north(ish) facing windows.

The sliding glass door is in place, and three openings are made in the high wall above the dining room, from the upper deck.

Still finishing up some EIFS work, including around the "belltower".

The 'flat roof' is almost completely sealed up, and has performed well through it's first two rain storms.

The kitchen cabinets had to be installed in order to get the countertops in place, which are in turn what the kitchen windows will rest on.

Here are the first two forms for the concrete countertops that will line the South kitchen wall.

From the loft you can see all three countertop segments after another HECTIC concrete pour day.

We started framing out the covered entryway. Sheesh! Another area turning out MUCH larger than I anticipated.

Some finishing touches on one of the copper roofs.
